Nothing Is A Big Deal, Seriously

Sometimes I may be totally arrogant, sometimes I may totally be
the most humble guy you’ve ever met, sometimes I may be in between.
But that’s life. Who isn’t like that? What’s the big deal if I had an arrogant moment?
Ben Harper

Maybe you just lost your biggest investment or lost a relative or dear friend. Maybe your partner left you, you are diagnosed with a terminal disease….it no big deal… life goes on.

The same way,  whether you just won the biggest competition on the planet, your company got listed in the fortune 500 or you got that big promotion.

Money and power just make us more of who we really are, i.e., the way we are before we become rich or powerful. Why? because those two things bring personal freedom, freedom to do the things that we have always wanted to do.

If we were good, we become better and find ways and means to do better. If we were greedy or manipulative, we become worse and will find ways and means to do more of those things. Unless something happens that shakes us and make us change our thoughts and belief.

So, the really big deal, as far as you are concerned, is, what you have become as a person inside. Have you become more fearful, less confident, worried, anxious, lonelier, greedy, deceitful as a process of achieving that goal?

How we deal with what happens to us or you have become better, physically, mentally, socially and spiritually (redundant)? If yes, then in that specific area of your life you have grown stronger and bigger and you will be in a position to give to others more of yourself.

It may seem altruistic and even inspiring to give to others when you have little for yourself or to help others when you yourself are struggling. And when you do that with good intention it will work and you will inspire those who see you.

But helping others while struggling yourself cannot last long, simply because of the fact that it is not sustainable, it is science. You cannot pour from an empty cup. When flight attendants give you safety instructions, they will always tell you to put that oxygen mask on yourself first.

You have to attend to yourself first, fill your cup before you can pour from that cup of yours.

The biggest cruise ship is no big deal in middle of the vast ocean. The Solar System is not a Big Deal when compared to the entire Universe.

So you, me, having something, doing something, getting something, losing something, giving something, saying something. Big or small, it is just NO big deal when you look at the bigger picture of life and its entirety.

The stealth bomber is supposed to be a big deal. It flies in undetected, bombs, then flies away.
Hell, I’ve been doing that all my life. – Bob Hope
